The issues related to the trade complex of the country were the topic of a working video session between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vice-Premiers of the government, as well as heads of ministries and departments.
The Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations has reported on the growth of trade, pace of privatization of facilities, expansion of the e-commerce system, introduction of digital systems for payments in the stores, and development of online commerce, taking into account world experience.
The Minister of the Textile Industry of Turkmenistan has presented the report on modernization process that has been completed and scheduled to be done at the industry’s facilities.
The head of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange also spoke about the introduction of digital systems into the work of exchange trading.
Chairperson of the Turkmenhaly State Association (Turkmen carpet), Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country were next to report on the situation in the Turkmen trade complex.
Then, the floor was given to Vice-Premier of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Orazgeldiyev, who supervises the agro-industrial complex. He has reported to President Berdimuhamedov on allocation of land plots for growing crops and grapes, construction of processing plants, greenhouses, livestock and poultry complexes, etc.
Vice-Premiers Mushshikov and Gylydjov have presented reports on financial and economic situation in the trade complex and outcomes of activity in the past year.
At the end of the video conference, Berdimuhamedov gave a number of targeted instructions, in particular, to keep under strict control the provision of domestic market with food and goods of first priority, to improve the quality, to increase the volume and range of textile products, to raise prices for export-oriented domestic products via trading at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, to expand the range carpet products and increase their production, as well as pay special attention to Turkmen business and private entrepreneurship.
The President noted the necessity of introduction of digital systems at the facilities of the trade complex of Turkmenistan, marketing modernization, increasing the number of Internet services provided.
Taking into account the state of the world economy, it is necessary to consistently increase the volume of food products produced in the country, improve the provision of the domestic market with food and essential goods, expand the range of services provided to the population, and widely introduce e-commerce and delivery services, the Head of State said.
