President of Turkmenistan to visit Japan to attend the Emperor’s enthronement ceremony

A working visit by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan is scheduled for October 21-23. At a government video session on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov informed about the preparations for the planned visit.

The main ceremonies celebrating the ascension to the imperial throne of Japan will be held in Tokyo on October 22. In addition to attendance the new Emperor Naruhito’s enthronement ceremony, a number of bilateral meetings are scheduled and a number of documents are planned to be signed during the upcoming visit of the Government delegation of Turkmenistan to Japan.

Earlier, Berdimuhamedov paid official visits to the Country of the Rising Sun in 2009, 2013 and 2015. In turn, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe paid an official visit to Ashgabat in October 2015. Following the results of meetings and negotiations of the high-level visit, the parties signed 37 bilateral documents.
