The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry Azat Ovezov, is participating in the 79th World Health Assembly, which opened in Geneva.

On the sidelines of the global forum, Turkmenistan served as the lead coordinator of an important ministerial meeting of health department heads from Central Asian countries with Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe. A key outcome of these roundtable discussions was the full agreement and completion of the institutionalization phase of the Roadmap for Health and Well-being in Central Asia 2026–2030 (RHWA 2.0).

Participants from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan approved the key parameters for the political launch of the Roadmap, linking its mechanisms to high-level integration processes, including the Year of Health within the CIS.

During his visit to Geneva, the head of the Turkmen delegation, Azat Ovezov, met with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail priority areas for modernizing public health systems and prospects for expanding multi-faceted partnerships.

The Turkmen side officially invited the WHO Director-General to visit Ashgabat in October of this year to participate in major regional forums.

Separate bilateral talks were also held with Dr. Hans Kluge, during which the WHO European leadership praised Turkmenistan's proactive stance in strengthening cross-border epidemiological security and promoting joint climate and medical technologies in the region.
