A meeting was held in Tokyo between the leadership of the International University for the Humanities and Development and the president of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS). The parties discussed the development of academic ties and new opportunities for students and faculty members of both countries. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

Cooperation between the universities is based on a Memorandum signed back in 2015. Since then, the partnership has produced tangible results: starting from 2017, 11 students from Turkmenistan have already studied in Japan under exchange programs.

Participants of the meeting emphasized that such internships and exchange opportunities provide not only in-depth language learning, but also invaluable international experience that makes graduates more competitive in the labor market.

Key areas and the Global Japan Office

Special attention during the talks was given to the activities of the Global Japan Office, which has been successfully operating at the International University for the Humanities and Development in Ashgabat since 2016. The office has become an important link in promoting Japanese language and culture in Turkmenistan, strengthening direct contacts between scholars of the two countries, and creating new platforms for youth dialogue.

Representatives of the universities agreed to expand academic mobility programs. This means that in the near future, even more students and professors will be able to participate in joint research projects and educational initiatives.

Further strengthening of the partnership will become an important factor in training highly qualified international specialists capable of working effectively in the context of global integration.
