Türkiye’s tourism industry continues to demonstrate impressive growth momentum. According to the latest report from the country’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the sector reached new historic milestones during the first three months of 2026, once again confirming its status as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.

Official statistics show that the number of foreign visitors increased by 4.2% in the first quarter, reaching 9.2 million people. Total tourism revenue grew at a similar pace, amounting to 9.9 billion US dollars. Despite ongoing geopolitical instability around the world, Türkiye’s tourism model has demonstrated remarkable flexibility and resilience.

One of the key achievements was the increase in average tourist spending per night. In the first quarter of 2026, this figure rose to 102 US dollars, significantly higher than in previous years (99 dollars in 2025 and only 68 dollars in 2017). This growth is a direct result of the government’s strategy to move the sector toward a higher-income market segment.

At the beginning of the year, the main sources of tourists were Germany, Russia, and Bulgaria, contributing 678 thousand, 651 thousand, and 539 thousand visitors respectively.

Major international events, such as the UEFA Europa League final in Istanbul, are also helping strengthen the country’s global image. In addition, plans to return Formula 1 to the calendar in 2027 are already contributing to the diversification of tourist flows. The ministry is currently implementing targeted action plans for each region, responding quickly to the demands of modern travelers.
