Within the framework of the Regional Environmental Summit (RES-2026), which will take place in the capital of Kazakhstan from 22–24 April, the second meeting of the Ministers of Environment of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will be held. Participants will discuss the development of unified approaches to sustainable development and the protection of natural resources in the region.

Holding the ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the RES summit is an initiative of Kazakhstan. It highlights that the environmental agenda is currently a priority for the entire Turkic world. The meeting will be held in a closed format under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology, Yerlan Nysanbayev. It will be attended by heads of relevant agencies and advisors to the presidents from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, as well as the Secretary General of the OTS, Kubanychbek Omuraliyev.

The main focus of the meeting will be on adapting to climate change and finding effective solutions to common environmental challenges. The ministers are expected to exchange experience in the rational use of water and land resources, as well as to agree on priority directions for future joint projects.

It is expected that the outcome of the closed-door talks will be the strengthening of regional cooperation. Coordinated actions of OTS member states will make it possible to address transboundary environmental issues more effectively and will provide a solid foundation for environmental security and the well-being of the entire region.
