On April 14, at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, a side event titled “Excellence in Public Service Delivery to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” was held within the framework of the ECOSOC Youth Forum. This was reported by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The event was organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASAN).

A delegation from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan took part in the session. The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, Vepa Hajiyev, also joined the discussions. The participation of Turkmenistan in this forum confirms the priority of modernizing public administration and improving the quality of social services.

The program opened with remarks by the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN, Tofig Musayev, leadership of UN DESA, and the Director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation, Dima Al-Khatib.

During the discussions, particular attention was given to the implementation of the ASAN Index, through which experts presented methods for assessing the efficiency and quality of citizen services. Participants analyzed the role of effective public services in strengthening trust in state institutions and in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

A further roundtable discussion with international experts addressed innovation in governance and the development of unified criteria for assessing the quality of public services. For the Turkmen side, participation in the event provided an opportunity to study advanced global experience for further improving national standards and introducing human-centered digital tools.

The active dialogue at the UN platform once again demonstrated Turkmenistan’s readiness to use innovative approaches to achieve global development goals and strengthen international cooperation.
