A UNESCO Chair was opened at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan
April 15, an opening ceremony for the UNESCO Chair “Digital Science” was held at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
As part of the opening, a plenary session took place, along with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Participants also familiarized with an exhibition showcasing achievements of the country’s scientific and educational institutions, as well as a cultural program.
A welcoming speech was delivered by the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Allaberdy Ashirov. The event also featured remarks by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Hero of Turkmenistan Chinar Rustemova, and the Director of the International Science and Technology Park, Durdymurad Gadamov.
In her speech, Chinar Rustemova emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with UNESCO in key areas:
“In the near future, an important task is to intensify joint efforts with UNESCO in such fields as digital science, culture, ecology, and youth policy.”
She also highlighted the significance of UNESCO Chairs in the education and science system:
“The main goal of the Chairs is to develop scientific research, train highly qualified specialists, and strengthen regional and international cooperation.”
It was also noted that the new Chair represents another step forward in this direction:
“Today, the third UNESCO Chair — ‘Digital Science’ — is being opened at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences.”
The establishment of the new Chair is aimed at introducing modern technologies into the scientific sphere, developing digital research, and expanding international collaboration.
The Chair’s activities will serve as an important platform for training a new generation of specialists and promoting scientific initiatives at the international level.
