A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Perkhat Yagshiyev, participated in the 109th meeting of the CIS Economic Council, which took place on April 3 in Moscow. Despite the union's extensive agenda, Ashgabat emphasized projects that directly align with the national digitalization strategy and support for the private sector.

During the meeting, a substantive and engaging exchange of views took place on pressing issues of economic cooperation among CIS member states. Furthermore, the heads of delegations reviewed a number of draft documents.

Among these, the Regulation on a new interstate format—the annual "Commonwealth Fair"—is particularly noteworthy. This opens up additional channels for Turkmenistan to export agricultural products and unique folk crafts. The fair, which will travel through cities across the Eurasian region, is designed as a platform for direct interaction between manufacturers and retailers, bypassing unnecessary logistical barriers.

The delegates paid special attention to the Concept for the Digital Transformation of the Mining and Metallurgical Complex. Participation in this plan will enable the integration of automated production management systems, the implementation of uniform industry IT standards, and the exchange of experience in environmentally friendly mining and processing technologies.

The next stage of discussions is scheduled for June 2026, when the next council meeting will also be held in Moscow.
