A delegation from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan took part in a CAREC working group meeting focused on the development of modern professional competencies. The main topic of the meeting was the integration of “green” skills and environmentally sustainable technologies into the region’s higher education system. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

For Turkmenistan, this cooperation is of strategic importance. In the context of global technological transformation, “green” skills — the ability to work with resource-efficient and low-carbon technologies — are becoming the foundation of the modern economy. Without training such specialists, it is impossible to modernize industry and transition to a circular economy.

Participation in the CAREC platform enables Turkmenistan to adopt advanced methods for forecasting in-demand professions. The key areas of work include:

• Curriculum updates: introducing educational modules on climate-resilient agriculture and innovative manufacturing.

• Link with the labor market: training specialists who will be in demand in the energy and industrial sectors in the coming decades.

• Academic mobility: developing international exchange of experience among universities in the region.

The knowledge gained within the framework of the project is already being used to develop national methodological guidelines. This directly contributes to the implementation of Turkmenistan’s Higher Education Development Strategy for 2026–2052.

The regional approach allows CAREC countries to harmonize educational standards. For students, this means obtaining diplomas that meet international environmental and technological requirements, and for the country, it ensures the creation of a strong talent pool for deep processing of raw materials and efficient resource use.
