On April 2, the capital of Azerbaijan became a focal point for government delegations from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The second meeting of heads of government/vice presidents of member states and observers, attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev, outlined the contours of a new economic model for the region through 2040.

The delegation leaders met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who emphasized that strengthening the unity of Turkic countries today is not only a matter of cultural proximity but also a geopolitical necessity. The discussion focused on the Trans-Caspian Corridor as the main artery linking East and West.

Speaking at the forum, Nokerguly Atagulyev emphasized that Turkmenistan sees the OTS as a platform for the implementation of specific, tangible projects.

Transport Connectivity: Ashgabat reaffirmed the strategic priority of the Lapis Lazuli and East-West corridors.

Energy Alliance: The need to diversify routes and ensure the security of hydrocarbon supplies was noted.

Global Dialogue: Turkmenistan reiterated the role of the UN and international law as the foundation for any regional rapprochement.

The Joint Statement adopted following the meeting became a true "roadmap" to the future. Kazakhstan's initiative to host the Artificial Intelligence Summit in Turkestan in 2026 was supported. Support was expressed for the "Green Energy Corridor" and the study of peaceful nuclear energy. Participants agreed to jointly explore reserves of critical minerals needed for high-tech production. The UTC plans to advance joint initiatives in space technology and satellite communications.

Today's meeting in Baku demonstrated that the UTC has finally transformed from a cultural and humanitarian forum into a powerful economic bloc. Turkmenistan, while maintaining observer status in this organization, is de facto one of the key architects of this new reality, providing its territory and infrastructure (the port of Turkmenbashi, gas processing plants, and transport networks) for the needs of the entire Turkic family.
