Google unveils Android 17 Beta 3: Separate Wi-Fi and new comfort Features
Google has released the third beta version of the Android 17 operating system. The update is already available for Pixel smartphone owners. The platform has reached stability, which means the final release is expected very soon — in June 2026.
The main change that users will notice is the return of separate Wi-Fi and mobile data toggles. Managing internet access is now easier: instead of a single combined menu in quick settings, two independent buttons have reappeared.
Android 17 offers more tools for personalizing the home screen. Users can now hide text labels under app icons, leaving only the icons visible. This creates a cleaner, more minimalist interface.
The screen recording panel has also been completely redesigned. Instead of a bulky menu, there is now a compact “floating” panel. It provides instant access to recording controls without covering the main content on the display.
Developers have paid special attention to inclusivity. Hearing aid users can now choose where to route system sounds: to the phone’s built-in speaker or directly to the hearing device.
In addition, the voice assistant volume can now be adjusted with a separate slider, solving the problem of the assistant sounding too loud or too quiet compared to music or video.
For privacy protection, passwords are instantly masked when typed on a physical keyboard. Other new features include cursor blink frequency customization and automatic alerts for daylight saving time changes.
The update is already available for Pixel 6 series devices and newer. Beta program participants will receive it “over the air” shortly.
