Russian Film festival is taking place in Ashgabat
The Russian Film Festival is taking place in Ashgabat from March 27 to 29, organized by ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Screenings will be held at the Arkach shopping and entertainment center cinema.
The festival program includes new films from Russian cinema. The screenings will open with the family film “Buratino” (2025), directed by Igor Voloshin. Audiences will also see the animated film “Doctor Dinosaurs” (2025) by Maxim Volkov, the fantasy film “Treasures of the Gnomes” (2025) by Alexander Babaev and Vasiliy Rovenskiy, and the family movie “The Frog Princess” (2025) directed by Alexander Amirov.
The capital of Turkmenistan has for several years served as a platform for showcasing contemporary Russian film projects. According to ROSKINO CEO Elza Antonova, this year’s program focuses on family stories and adventures that combine traditional plots with modern approaches. She noted that holding the festival in Ashgabat contributes to the development of cultural dialogue between the countries.
Alexander Zharov, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, emphasized that the projects presented at the festival represent a wide range of genres but are united by sincerity that resonates with audiences. He also highlighted the inclusion of the animated film “Doctor Dinosaurs,” produced by the YARKO studio.
In turn, Svetlana Balanova, CEO of National Media Group, stressed the importance of screening “Buratino” as a continuation of cultural cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan.
The Russian Film Festival in Ashgabat continues to strengthen humanitarian ties and introduces Turkmen audiences to new works of the modern Russian film industry.
