On March 25, a significant meeting was held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris between Turkmenistan’s Minister of Education, Jumamurad Gurbangeldiyev, and the organization’s Director-General, Khaled Al-Enany. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The parties outlined new directions for cooperation, placing particular emphasis on digital transformation and the active integration of artificial intelligence technologies into the educational process.

During the meeting, the Minister of Education noted that cooperation with UNESCO is a priority for the country. Joint initiatives make it possible to consistently strengthen the national education system and integrate it into the global educational space.

Special attention was given to the prospects of opening a new UNESCO Chair titled “Digital Science.” It will serve as a platform for training specialists in high technologies and modern research methods.

Director-General Khaled Al-Enany highly praised the reforms being carried out in Turkmenistan. He emphasized their systematic nature and full alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The head of UNESCO also noted the successful work of Associated Schools and academic networks in the country. The “Lifelong Learning” initiative and Ashgabat’s participation in the Global Network of Learning Cities were also discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to launch new projects aimed at expanding access to quality education and strengthening cooperation with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies.
