India admitted to the Transport Corridor Central Asia-Middle East

India becomes an official party to Ashgabat agreement on the establishment of international transit and transport corridor Central Asia-Middle East, says press release of Indian foreign ministry. Turkmenistan as depositary, informed New Delhi about the consent of all parties of this document, including Iran, Uzbekistan and Oman, on the accession of India, which will enter into force on 3 February 2018. Ashgabat agreement, effective since 2016, will launch passenger and cargo traffic on the route Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman. India's participation in this communication mechanism enhances transit importance of the Central Asian space in the traffic between the Middle East, Persian Gulf and South Asia. The accession to the agreement means for New Delhi the diversification of transport links with Central Asia, which will have a positive influence on trade cooperation with regional countries.
