From May 12 to 17, 2026, the Asian Weightlifting Championships for adults will take place in Gandhinagar, India. The Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) has released the final schedule for the tournament, which is set to be the major event of the year for the continent’s top athletes.

Key Stages of the Event

The organizational schedule has been carefully structured to ensure maximum comfort for both participants and spectators:

• April 25 — completion of final online athlete verification.

• May 9 — official arrival of national delegations.

• May 11 — AWF Congress and opening ceremony.

• May 12–17 — main competition days for medals.

• May 18 — official closing ceremony and departure of participants.

The selected dates in May 2026 ensure smooth participation for delegations from across Asia and provide stable conditions for hosting an international-level competition. Organizers emphasize that Gandhinagar offers all necessary conditions for athletes to fully focus on their performance.

The upcoming championship is expected to be highly competitive, featuring top-ranked athletes from China, Iran, India, and other countries. Spectators will witness intense battles in categories where the Asian school of weightlifting traditionally dominates and sets global standards.
