Center for Turkmen language and culture will be opened at Moscow state linguistic university
Rector of MSLU Irina Krayeva and diplomats from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Russia discussed the launch of new educational programs during the year of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the CIS.
A meeting was held at the Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU), which holds the status of a basic organization for languages and cultures of the Commonwealth countries, between the university’s leadership and Serdar Durdyev, Counselor of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation. The key topic was expanding the presence of the Turkmen humanitarian agenda within the academic programs of the leading linguistic center.
MSLU, where 40 foreign languages are currently taught, plans to include the Turkmen language in its core educational programs. This will allow Russian and international students in the future to study it professionally as a primary or second foreign language.
The parties also discussed the prospects of opening a Center for Turkmen Language and Culture at MSLU. The center will serve not only as an educational platform but also as a venue for cultural forums and creative meetings.
The initiative is being implemented during a symbolic period — the year of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the CIS, which gives the project particular political and integration significance.
The discussion was attended by the leadership of the Institute of International Relations and specialized CIS departments, confirming readiness for thorough academic development of the courses.
The inclusion of the Turkmen language in the academic environment of MSLU will help train highly qualified translators and regional specialists capable of working at the intersection of cultures and economies. The participation of the head of the press service of the CIS Executive Committee in the talks highlights that the project is viewed as an important element of the broader strategy of humanitarian cooperation within the Commonwealth.
