"Women and Nature": A Creative Meeting Held on the Occasion of International Women's Day
A creative meeting, "Women and Nature," was held at the International Science and Technology Park in Ashgabat, on the initiative of the Young Naturalist Public Organization, to mark International Women's Day. The event was organized with the technical assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan project "Supporting the Process of Updating Turkmenistan's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0)" as part of the country's commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
During the event, which brought together forty participants, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection spoke and emphasized the key role of women in shaping society's environmental culture. The event's special atmosphere was enhanced by the participation of distinguished guests—women specialists in education, healthcare, and the media—who shared their professional experience and personal perspectives on environmental issues.
"In our country, the role of women in society is consistently high. Women and nature are inseparable sources of life and beauty. Our main goal is to entrench this harmony in the minds of young people and instill in them a caring attitude toward the natural world," noted Leyli Shikhmedova, head of the Young Naturalist public organization.
UNDP experts and young eco-volunteers discussed international commitments to climate change and the implementation of joint projects. Members of the Young Naturalist public organization engaged in an active dialogue with the experts, receiving comprehensive answers to pressing questions. The meeting concluded with a formal presentation of commemorative gifts from the organizers.
