Ashgabat, February 23 | ORIENT. A round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Zimbabwe was held in Ashgabat. The meetings, held at the level of the Foreign Minister and relevant deputies, resulted in the signing of a Protocol, laying the legal basis for regular diplomatic dialogue.

The visit of the delegation led by Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, opens new prospects for Turkmen business and diplomacy on the African continent.

At a meeting between Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Albert Chimbindi, it was noted that the countries already have experience of constructive interaction at the UN. Ashgabat and Harare intend to continue coordinating their positions on global security and sustainable development, supporting each other's international initiatives.

During detailed consultations, led by Deputy Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyev on the Turkmen side, the parties identified specific sectors for cooperation:

Agriculture and Energy: The exchange of technologies and experience in agriculture is a strategic priority for both countries.

Textile Industry: Given Turkmenistan's strong textile cluster, this area is seen as one of the most promising.

Business Forums: The parties agreed to expand beyond the public sector and establish direct contacts between business communities through joint exhibitions and fairs.

The humanitarian agenda touched on education, sports, and tourism. Zimbabwe, renowned for its unique natural attractions (including Victoria Falls), expressed interest in exchanging experiences in developing tourism infrastructure and hosting reciprocal cultural events.
