Ashgabat, February 14 | ORIENT. The economic results of the year, announced by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, have laid the foundation for even more ambitious plans. While 2025 was marked by "peace and trust," 2026—the year of "purposeful winged horses"—promises to be a year of unprecedented construction and social progress.

The key figure, which will affect thousands of families across the country, is that over 900,000 square meters of housing are planned to be commissioned in 2026. For comparison, this is almost 40% more than in 2025, when 645,000 square meters of housing were built. The capital will host the bulk of the new construction: 30 new homes will be built in the Parahat-7 residential complex; 46 modern buildings will be completed in Buzmeyin. Particular emphasis is placed on cottage construction: 127 two-story houses will complement the architectural appearance of Ashgabat.

The President clearly outlined key projects that will transform the population's quality of life. 2026 will also be a year of "medical premieres." The capital will see the opening of an International Pediatrics Center, a Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center, and a new Dental Center.

The regions have not been forgotten either. The famous Archman resort will expand with a new 400-bed facility, and in the western part of the country, in the Balkan velayat, an entire new village (Kizylarvat etrap) and modern complexes will be built in the village of Guvlymayak.

The launch of the Mary-Turkmenabat section of the high-speed highway, originating in Ashgabat, will be critical for the economy and logistics. This will effectively complete the creation of the country's "highway backbone," connecting east and west.

Education will receive a powerful boost: this year, general education institutions with a capacity of 3,380 students and preschools with a capacity of 1,080 students are scheduled to be built and commissioned. New building complexes for the Architectural and Civil Engineering Institute and the Seydi Pedagogical Institute will open in 2026. The smart city of Arkadag will continue to grow—construction of its second phase is well underway, cementing Turkmenistan's status as a regional leader in digital urbanization.

The announced motto for the year-“Independent, neutral Turkmenistan is the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses” is more than just a catchy phrase. As the head of state emphasized, it is a benchmark for everyone. A special Organizing Committee has been created in honor of the Year of the "Winged Horses," which will make 2026 a vibrant year of international events and forums.

"Our key goal is the continued prosperity of our Motherland," the President concluded. Judging by the volume of work planned, 2026 will truly be a time of high speeds and great achievements.
