Ashgabat, January 30 | ORIENT. Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a video meeting with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations. The talks confirmed that the two countries' economic partnership is characterized by growing dynamism.

The parties emphasized that high-level personal contacts have given a powerful boost to their relations. These include the visit of National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Berlin in 2023 and the talks between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Astana in September 2024. These meetings have shaped the current agenda, which views German technology as a priority for the modernization of Turkmen industry.

During the conversation, particular attention was paid to the role of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group. In conjunction with the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, this body has become a key bridge for German companies seeking to enter the Turkmen market. Regular Economy Days and business forums allow the parties to synchronize their activities and remove barriers to private capital.

The meeting with Michael Harms indicates preparations for new joint events aimed at intensifying trade relations and developing specific projects. German businesses have traditionally shown interest in energy, logistics, and green technologies, which fully align with Turkmenistan's economic diversification strategy.

This week, a meeting with Andreas Jahn, Chairman of the German-Turkmen Forum and Executive Director of the Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW), was held at the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Frankfurt am Main.
