Tesla is Preparing for Mass Sales: Optimus Robots Will Enter the Market by 2027
Elon Musk has announced ambitious plans to launch humanoid robots under the Optimus project. According to the CEO of Tesla, the company intends to begin open sales of the humanoid robots by the end of 2027. At present, prototypes are already undergoing “field testing,” performing simple operations at Tesla’s factories.
It is expected that by the end of the current year, the robots will move on to more complex manufacturing tasks. The project, first announced in 2021, has evolved from a concept into functional models capable of imitating sophisticated human movements. Over the past year, Optimus has demonstrated its capabilities in various areas, ranging from basic industrial manipulation to demonstration performances featuring kung fu elements.
One of Musk’s key objectives is to create a mass-market product. The estimated price of a single robot is expected to range between $20,000 and $30,000. The Tesla CEO emphasizes that at this price point, the device will be accessible to a wide range of consumers and could become an indispensable assistant in both household and business environments.
The entry of Optimus into the market could radically transform approaches to labor automation. The robots would be able to take over routine and hazardous tasks, increasing overall production efficiency and freeing people from physically demanding work.
