Turkmenistan Opens Admissions to Postgraduate and Doctoral Programs
Ashgabat, January 16 | ORIENT. Turkmenistan has officially launched a new campaign to train the country's scientific elite. At a Cabinet of Ministers meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree approving quotas for 2026 for admission to postgraduate, doctoral, and clinical residency programs.
This decision determines which specialists will shape the country's technological and medical sovereignty in the coming decades.
In establishing quotas, the government is emphasizing the "intellectual special forces" for the new economy. Priority areas include:
Digital Economy: Training managers and experts capable of implementing IT solutions in the public sector and business.
Innovative Engineering and Technology: The country needs developers to service modernized plants (such as the Turkmenbashi Oil Refinery Complex or chemical giants).
Medicine of the Future (Clinical Residency): The state program "Saglyk" places special emphasis on physicians skilled in high-tech diagnostic and treatment methods.
