Ashgabat, January 12 | ORIENT. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting via videoconference on Monday with the heads of the country's regions. The focus was on preparing for the spring sowing season and ensuring comfortable living conditions for the population during the winter.

The President outlined three key areas for the agricultural sector:

Cotton: Large-scale land preparation—plowing, leveling, and harrowing—is underway in all regions (Akhal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap, and Mary). Particular attention is being paid to seed selection and equipment maintenance.

Wheat and Vegetables: Mineral fertilizer application to winter crops continues. At the same time, the foundation is being laid for the potato, vegetable, and melon harvest.

Land reclamation: The head of state ordered the intensification of cleaning of collector-drainage and irrigation systems for the purpose of rational water use.

Social Focus: Winter and Infrastructure

In addition to the agricultural agenda, the President placed a strong emphasis on the life support of cities and villages. Governors have been instructed to personally oversee the operation of heating systems in schools, kindergartens, and residential buildings. Residential electricity, gas, and water supplies must be uninterrupted.

2026 promises to be a fruitful year for new building openings. Construction is underway in every region under the National Rural Program. Quality control is the number one priority. As reported in a Turkmen State Television and Radio Broadcasting news broadcast, the regions received a large shipment of new specialized equipment and vehicles for municipal services. This will significantly simplify landscaping efforts.

Results: The head of state clearly prioritized quality in the fields (adherence to agricultural practices), timely payments (payments to farmers for the rice, sugar beet, and cotton harvest), and home comfort. And the emphasis on digitalization and new technology meets the challenges of transitioning agriculture to a path of intensive development, where every hectare produces to its maximum potential.
