Public Participation in the Process of Updating Turkmenistan's NDC 3.0 Was Discussed in Ashgabat.
A climate dialogue entitled "Inclusive Future: Developing a Plan for Public and Women's Participation in Turkmenistan's NDC 3.0" was held on December 22. The event was organized by the public organization "Young Naturalist" in partnership with UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).
NDC 3.0 is the country's revised Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which represents the country's national climate action plan under the Paris Agreement.
During the meeting, climate analysts and UNDP project specialists, together with experts and SDG Ambassadors, discussed the social and gender aspects of climate change. The outcome of this work was the development of a Roadmap for the systematic engagement of women and youth in the implementation and monitoring of NDC 3.0.
"This dialogue allowed us to join forces with UNDP to create inclusive mechanisms in climate policy." "We strive to ensure that women's experiences and the energy of young people become part of national plans. NDC 3.0 must reflect the interests of all of society to achieve a sustainable future," Leyli Shikhmadova, Chair of the Young Naturalist public organization noted.
The meeting, held at the Ynamly Kepil coworking center, brought together approximately 30 participants from various sectors, including members of the organization.
