ASHGABAT, December 19 | ORIENT. Public debates dedicated to International Human Rights Day were held in the Turkmen capital on Thursday. Organized by the Delegation of the European Union jointly with the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy, and the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, the forum became the center of a lively discussion about the challenges of the 21st century.

Teams from three of the country's largest universities, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International University for Humanities and Development and the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, competed in the intellectual competition.

The forum-debate format allowed participants not only to present papers but also to confront different perspectives on three of the most pressing social issues:

Artificial Intelligence: Balancing Technological Progress with Privacy.

Climate Crisis: How Global Climate Change Impacts Basic Human Rights Today.

Inclusive Education: Ways to Create Equal Opportunities for Everyone.

The jury, which included EU diplomats and experts from international organizations, assessed not only the depth of argumentation but also oratory skills, logic, and, most importantly, the culture of debate.

Such initiatives are aimed at developing critical thinking and civic engagement among young people. The debates confirmed that Turkmenistan's younger generation is ready for open and constructive dialogue on the most complex issues of our time.
