ASHGABAT, December 19 | ORIENT. A delegation from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan completed a five-day working visit to the Russian Federation. The main outcome of the meetings was the agreement on a large-scale Joint Action Plan for 2026–2028.

The new roadmap for cooperation covers key areas of agency modernization: from comprehensive digitalization and rapid information exchange to strengthening law enforcement and training highly qualified specialists.

During the visit, the Turkmen specialists thoroughly studied the technological capabilities of their Russian counterparts, visiting several strategic facilities, including the Electronic Declaration Center of the Moscow Customs Office, where they demonstrated mechanisms for expediting customs operations through digital filters; the Russian Customs Academy, which served as a platform for discussing new educational standards for future customs officers; and the Canine Center of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, where the delegation learned about advanced methods for training service dogs.

Direct acquaintance with the work of these structures confirmed the parties' mutual interest in strengthening their partnership. Implementation of the agreed-upon three-year joint action plan will help synchronize customs processes between the two countries, making cross-border trade more efficient and secure.

Cooperation between customs agencies is developing as part of strengthening trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
