President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Japan on a working visit. The purpose of the trip is to participate in the first Summit of Heads of State of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue.

This trip is the head of state's second visit to Japan in 2025. Earlier, in April of this year, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited Osaka as part of the National Day of Turkmenistan events at the World Expo 2025.

Relations between the two countries are underpinned by the successful implementation of large-scale industrial projects. With the participation of leading Japanese corporations such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Itochu, and Sojitz, unique high-tech facilities have been commissioned in Turkmenistan: a plant for the production of environmentally friendly synthetic gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandepe; a polymer plant in Kiyanly; Urea plant in Garabogaz.

These enterprises have not only strengthened the country's export potential but also become benchmarks in environmental and energy security.

Education and training remain an important area of cooperation. The Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University, where the educational process is based on Japanese standards, successfully operates in Ashgabat. Higher and secondary educational institutions in Turkmenistan actively teach the Japanese language, which contributes to the strengthening of long-term ties between the youth of the two countries.

During the upcoming summit, the leaders of Central Asian countries and Japan are expected to discuss prospects for further integration in the areas of sustainable development, transport, and green energy. The adoption of the Tokyo Declaration is planned for the summit's outcome.
