A three-day meeting of the General Council was held at the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva. The delegation of Turkmenistan, including representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Finance and Economy, actively participated in the work of this key body.

Turkmenistan, as an observer, is systematically studying the "rules of the game" in global trade. This year's agenda includes the most pressing and contemporary issues: the digital economy and e-commerce, resources and subsidies, regulation of fisheries and agriculture, institutional reforms, and the transformation of the WTO structure itself to adapt to new global challenges.

One of the practical outcomes of the meeting was preparations for the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC14), which will be held from March 26–29, 2026, in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

For Turkmenistan, this is a crucial platform where decisions will be made that will shape global trade for years to come. The WTO Secretariat has already provided delegations with a detailed briefing on preparations for this forum.

Participation in the General Council is more than just a mere presence; it is a strategic "synchronization of notes." Turkmenistan is setting its priorities and ensuring continuity in the accession negotiations.

The General Council is the WTO's highest decision-making body between ministerial conferences. It is here that global trade agreements are formulated and disputes between member states are resolved.
