Turkmenistan Participated in a Regional Meeting on Afghanistan in Tehran
Turkmenistan participated in a high-level regional meeting on Afghanistan held on December 14 in Tehran. The meeting was attended by special representatives from Afghanistan's neighboring countries and regional partners, including Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, China, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, underscoring the importance of a coordinated regional approach to resolving the situation in the Islamic Emirate.
During the meeting, the role of neighboring states in promoting long-term stability in Afghanistan was reaffirmed. Participants firmly believed that stability will be achieved only through non-interference by third countries in regional affairs.
Participants emphasized the importance of maintaining economic and trade relations with Afghanistan. This approach aligns with Turkmenistan's position, which views economic development as the key to improving the living conditions of the Afghan people and promoting regional integration.
As part of its policy of neutrality and good-neighborliness, Turkmenistan consistently supports the provision of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and is ready to facilitate the implementation of infrastructure projects that contribute to the country's prosperity.
Meeting participants called for the use of diplomatic mechanisms to resolve cross-border issues.
The parties welcomed Pakistan's willingness to host the second round of the meeting of special representatives in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, in March next year.
The holding of these regional meetings demonstrates the pragmatic and restrained strategy of neighboring states aimed at creating a long-term regional structure to ensure political stability and economic development in Afghanistan.
