Yesterday evening, a light snowfall was recorded in Ashgabat for the first time this season. Solid precipitation was observed approximately between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., when the air temperature was around +2°C. Earlier in the day, light rain was also reported. In total, 0.7 mm of precipitation fell during the day.

From December 1 to 14, the city received a total of 3.7 mm of precipitation, which accounts for 21.8% of the monthly norm.

More precipitation is expected in the capital of Turkmenistan in the coming week. According to preliminary forecasts, between 10 and 25 mm of precipitation may fall from Wednesday to Friday alone. On Thursday and Friday, there is a possibility of precipitation in the form of snow and the formation of a snow cover in one form or another. Given that temperatures are expected to hover around 0°C, the formation of a stable snow cover may depend on just 1–2 degrees, making it premature to draw definite conclusions several days in advance.

It is worth noting that December precipitation rules out the possibility of this year becoming the driest on record in Ashgabat. Nevertheless, it will still rank among the driest years observed, most likely taking second or third place.
