An exhibition titled AT33T — Turkmen Abstractions in 33 Paintings, featuring 33 abstract works by contemporary Turkmen artists, has been opened at the French Institute of Turkmenistan. The exhibition is hosted in the “Nadar” gallery and will be open to visitors from December 2025 until March 2026.

The project is organized by the French Institute with the support of Art Nokady and the artfool.ca platform. The display includes works by both contemporary artists and masters of Turkmen modernism, allowing visitors to trace various approaches to abstraction in Turkmen art.

Particular attention is drawn to the works of the artist Nini, who studied in France and continues her education in Switzerland. Her gestural, multilayered painting is built on movement and improvisation, aligning her with the European postwar abstraction tradition while preserving her unique artistic signature.

Among the participating artists are contemporary creators Dilarem Khojainova, Vitaly Didenko, Nazar Bekmuradov, and Mammet Yurmamedov, whose works demonstrate diverse methods of abstract expression—from geometric structures and color experiments to spontaneous compositional solutions.

The exhibition also includes works by renowned masters of Turkmen modernism — Tokar Tugurov, Chary Amangeldiyev, and Juma Aman Durdy, who, at certain stages of their careers, turned to abstraction, exploring laconic forms, geometry, and color fields.

Organizers note that the exhibition does not aim to establish a single artistic narrative. AT33T brings together artists of different generations who, at various points in their creative development, used abstraction as a way to transcend representation. Together, their works create a visual dialogue between Turkmenistan and Europe, tradition and modernity, the real and the imagined.

Admission is free; the exhibition is open daily from 9:00 to 20:00.
