Turkmen deposits on Amu Darya helped CNPC to up gas output outside of China

In 2017, the Chinese National Oil and Gas Corporation (CNPC) increased the volume of overseas hydrocarbon output under foreign joint projects due to production growth in Turkmenistan and Brazil, reported Reuters citing the company's statement.
In particular, last year the production of oil and gas fields of the Chinese energy conglomerate rose by 17% to 89.1 million tonnes of oil equivalent.
At the same time, crude oil production reached 68.8 million tonnes, and natural gas production exceeded 25 billion cubic meters.
The ahead of schedule commissioning of the compressors at deposits on the right bank of the Amu Darya River in Turkmenistan, where CNPC carries out exploration-exploitation, allowed the breakthrough of indicators.
The Amudarya project, realized on the Bagtyyarlyk contract area since 2007, is one of the largest foreign projects of the Corporation. The project is essential in the context of the import of Turkmen natural gas, which played a significant role in overcoming the recent fuel shortage in China.
As of December last year, due to intensive production at 101 wells and enhanced operation of two gas processing stations run by CNPC, the daily pumping of Turkmen energy through the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline grew by 5 million to 39 million cubic meters.
