Turkmenistan's customs service has demonstrated the highest efficiency among Central Asian countries, playing a vital role in international transport logistics. According to research conducted by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the time and cost of exporting and transiting goods across Turkmen borders are the lowest in the region.

Record Processing Speed

An analysis covering the period from August to October 2025 showed that at Turkmenistan's road customs checkpoints in Garabogaz, Farab, and Dashoguz, the average time required to clear transit and export vehicles is only 37 minutes.

This is a record. By comparison, similar procedures in Kazakhstan take 1 hour 30 minutes, and in Uzbekistan 1 hour 10 minutes. Even longer times are required in Tajikistan (1 hour 40 minutes) and Kyrgyzstan (1 hour 44 minutes).

Minimal Waiting Time

The efficiency of Turkmenistan's border crossings is also confirmed by queue analysis. The average wait time at customs checkpoints in Turkmenistan was up to 35 minutes.

A stark contrast is observed in other countries in the region: in Kyrgyzstan, the wait time is 40 minutes, in Tajikistan, 1 hour 15 minutes, and in Uzbekistan, it reaches 12 hours 20 minutes. The highest rate was recorded in Kazakhstan, where the average wait time exceeds two days.

These impressive figures confirm Turkmenistan's growing role as a reliable transit bridge between Asia and Europe. The country's authorities are continuously developing the infrastructure and capabilities of customs crossings, actively implementing "green corridors" and digital solutions, ensuring high consistency and efficiency of customs control.
