Agricultural Trade Turnover Between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan Increased by 37%

On the sidelines of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Astana on October 24, substantive talks were held between the agricultural ministries of the two countries. Minister of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, Charyar Chetiyev, met with his Kazakh counterpart, Aidarbek Saparov, to discuss the current state and prospects for expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Aidarbek Saparov emphasized that Turkmenistan is a priority market for Kazakhstan's agricultural exports, and the agricultural sector itself occupies a special place in the structure of cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this year's results demonstrate significant growth: in the first nine months, agricultural trade between the two countries reached $103 million, an increase of 37.5%. The Kazakh side proposed new cooperation mechanisms, such as forward financing and the creation of joint ventures.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed further cooperation in veterinary medicine and biosecurity issues to expand trade in livestock products.

The importance of cooperation between the two countries' scientific institutes, including joint research, exchange of experience, and training of highly qualified personnel for the agro-industrial complex, was emphasized.

Minister of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, Charyar Chetiyev, emphasized Turkmenistan's readiness to actively implement joint projects, increase trade, and strengthen food security between the two countries.
