The 16th Iran Project specialized exhibition, dedicated to engineering and technical services, will be held in Ashgabat from January 28 to 30, 2026. The exhibition aims to expand the export of Iranian technical and engineering services and provide a structured platform for companies seeking to enter or deepen their presence in the growing Turkmen market, according to the Tehran Times.

Bringing together major Iranian exporting companies and project developers, the event is expected to facilitate contracting, technical partnerships, and regional cooperation on major infrastructure and industrial projects. It will also create a direct channel for Iranian companies to access opportunities in the oil and gas industry, petrochemical developments, and larger-scale international tenders in Turkmenistan.

Officials said the Ashgabat exhibition will provide an important opportunity to showcase Iran's engineering expertise and strengthen trade ties with a neighboring market seeking reliable partners for its long-term development plans.

In late May, Iran and Turkmenistan signed a commercial roadmap aimed at increasing bilateral trade to $3 billion. The agreement was signed in Tehran by Iranian Minister of Transport and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh and Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov following the 18th meeting of the Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Committee.

The two countries, strategically located along the North-South and East-West transport corridors, agreed to achieve a transit volume of 20 million tons, and 16 million tons by 2028.

Other key agreements included plans to establish joint free trade zones in Sarakhs-Serakhs and Lotfabad-Artyk, strengthen border markets, particularly in Inche-Borun, and prepare a bilateral gas contract. Agreements were also reached on the construction of a third power transmission line between Mary and Sarakhs and the commencement of a feasibility study for a fourth line.
