Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco national team defender Achraf Hakimi has been named Africa’s Best Footballer. The results of the vote were announced yesterday.

Hakimi edged out major stars such as Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen in the race for the prestigious award.

As a result, Hakimi became the first Moroccan in 27 years to claim the “African Player of the Year” title.

Notably, last season Hakimi won all domestic competitions in France with PSG, lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy, and reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
