Brussels: From Eastern Hospitality to Eurasian Corridors

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium hosted a dialogue with a representative delegation from Turkey, including parliamentarians, mayors, and public figures. The meeting, a logical continuation of the Embassy's fruitful partnership with Eurovia VZW, was attended by Ambassador of Turkey to Belgium, Barış Tantekin.
The meeting opened with an immersion in the atmosphere of genuine Eastern hospitality. A traditional Turkmen feast was prepared for the Turkish guests: fragrant pilaf, manti, gok tea, and national sweets.
Along with the diplomacy of taste, a vibrant cross-section of Turkmenistan's tangible heritage was presented. Of particular interest was an exhibition showcasing unique Turkmen applied arts: handmade carpets, silver jewelry, national dresses, and musical instruments. A video presentation showcased the country's modern landscape, highlighting its rapid economic development, the implementation of major infrastructure projects, and its rich tourism potential.

A key element of the program was a briefing by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the unique international legal status of permanent neutrality. Ambassador Sapar Palvanov emphasized that neutrality has transformed from a foundation of foreign policy into an effective tool of preventive diplomacy and dialogue, promoting global peace and security. Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan's initiatives at the UN, including the International Year of Peace and Trust.
During the conversation, the fundamental similarity of approaches between Turkmenistan and Turkey was noted: the two countries are united not only by historical roots and cultural and civilizational commonality, but also by similar positions on foreign policy.

The discussion turned to practical areas of cooperation. The Turkmen side presented ideas on the relevance of neutrality as a tool for building bridges of trust between countries, as well as the strategic importance of developing transport, logistics, and energy corridors connecting the regions of Eurasia. These approaches resonated with the Turkish guests, as they resonate with Turkey's aspirations to strengthen connectivity and dialogue between Europe and Asia.
In this context, the fraternal ties between peoples, actively strengthening in the Turkic and Islamic worlds (education, culture, economics, and youth policy), were highly valued.

In conclusion, it was emphasized that this meeting, held through the Eurovia VZW platform, serves as a practical example of effective public diplomacy, which successfully complements official channels and enhances mutual understanding between countries. The Turkmen Embassy in Brussels consistently supports projects aimed at expanding contacts with young people, which is an important contribution to strengthening a culture of peace and trust.
