On November 18, a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the National Trade Union Centre, held a series of bilateral meetings with ILO representatives in Geneva.

In particular, meetings were held with ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director Beata Andres, with Oliver Röpke, the new Director of the ILO Bureau for Labour Affairs, and with Corinne Varga, Director of the International Labour Standards Department, among others. The parties discussed the development of cooperation, the implementation of the joint Action Plan, and further steps to promote decent work, social dialogue, and the modernization of labor legislation.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan was the first country Oliver Röpke visited after taking office, which was seen as an important sign of trust and recognition of the country's proactive stance on labor relations.

ILO technical specialists held consultations with members of the delegation on issues of ratification and practical implementation of international labour standards.

ILO representatives commended Turkmenistan's efforts to strengthen labor rights protection, combat forced and child labor, and ensure safe working conditions. The parties expressed their readiness to continue their joint work.

Turkmenistan, a member of the ILO since 1993, consistently works to promote its key priorities. The Organization's activities in the country are coordinated by the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team and the ILO Country Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, ensuring the effective integration of ILO policies and expertise among key stakeholders.

The parties expressed their mutual readiness to continue their joint and productive work on this agenda.
