On November 12, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, attended and spoke at the opening ceremony of the Water Diplomacy Center at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. This event coincided with the 25th anniversary of Emomali Rahmon's first initiative on water resources – the proclamation of 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater at the UN General Assembly in 2000.

In his speech, Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted that the creation of such a center, focused on scientific and educational activities, is a relevant and timely step, serving as the foundation for the implementation of a larger initiative: the establishment in the near future of an International Water Center in Tajikistan with the support of the UN and international partners.

The opening of the Water Diplomacy Center in Dushanbe is of particular importance for all of Central Asia, where issues of rational use of water resources and the prevention of scarcity are critical for sustainable development.

Turkmenistan, as an active participant in the regional water dialogue, shares the importance of cooperation in this area. Ashgabat consistently advocates for mutually beneficial and scientifically based cooperation in Central Asia. Given the country's location in an arid zone, Turkmenistan prioritizes the implementation of water-saving technologies, the effective management of transboundary watercourses, and the development of regional mechanisms that guarantee the interests of all states.

These coordinated efforts, including Tajikistan's water diplomacy initiatives and Turkmenistan's position on rational water use, underscore the collective responsibility of Central Asian countries in the face of climate challenges and the need to ensure long-term water security.
