Visual Instruments has unveiled a new concept monitor, Phantom, designed to replace traditional displays. The key feature is its adjustable transparency. The device operates on a principle similar to teleprompters or aviation heads-up displays: the image is reflected on a glass panel, allowing the user to see through the screen. The manufacturer claims this reduces eye strain.

Phantom is not just a transparent screen, but a complex optical system that reflects the image onto the glass, similar to a teleprompter. This creates the effect of the image hanging in mid-air.

• Eye protection: Simply look through the monitor at your surroundings to give your eyes a rest, without taking your eyes off your workspace.

• Flexibility: The user can adjust the transparency level by choosing from several available modes.

• Image quality: The monitor features a 24-inch panel with a crisp 4K image and incredibly high brightness (Ultra HDR).

The Phantom monitor is compatible with all modern devices (computers, consoles, and smartphones) thanks to USB-C and HDMI ports.

The device is currently in the prototype stage, with only 10 units produced. The official price has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be high – no more than $1,600. Sales of the monitor are expected to begin in late 2025.
