A meeting of ambassadors from Central Asian countries, Mongolia, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) took place in Brussels. The diplomats exchanged views on prospects for developing cooperation between the two dynamically developing regions.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, confirmed that regular contacts between diplomatic missions in Brussels have become a good tradition that needs to be developed to strengthen mutual understanding and expand practical cooperation.

The head of the Turkmen mission emphasized the initiative put forward by Turkmenistan in 2022 to establish an institutional format for cooperation called "Central Asia - ASEAN."

"We are convinced that the time has come to make our interaction more sustainable and systemic," the Ambassador stated. "From our presence in Brussels, we can contribute to strengthening interregional cooperation and advancing the mutual interests of our countries."

Ambassador Palvanov noted that the regions share similar approaches and common values, including a desire for peace and trust. He emphasized that both Central Asia and ASEAN countries are recognized as nuclear-weapon-free regions, which serves as an important foundation for maintaining international security and stability.
