Donald Trump Praised the Strategic Importance of Central Asia at the C5+1 Summit
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in the Central Asia-US Summit (C5+1) and held a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
The meeting between the leaders of the five Central Asian countries and the US President took place during a working dinner, preceded by a series of bilateral talks in the Oval Office.
In his opening remarks, President Donald Trump praised the region's strategic importance. "We are strengthening our economic partnership, improving security cooperation, and expanding our shared ties," Trump stated.
Emphasizing the importance of Central Asia, he noted its historical role: "These states were once home to the ancient Silk Road, connecting East and West... Today, their location at the heart of Eurasia gives them exceptional significance and enormous potential."
Trump specifically emphasized critical minerals as a key agenda item, reaffirming the United States' intention to strengthen economic security by expanding supply chains with partners around the world.
President Trump expressed confidence that his administration is correcting the "mistake" of previous administrations that neglected the region:
"I intend to make America's partnership with each of these countries stronger than ever before... This is one of the most important regions in the world—many people simply don't realize it."
The President of Turkmenistan expressed deep appreciation for the invitation and emphasized the positive results of the C5+1 format:
"We see the positive results achieved since the establishment of this format, and we are certainly expanding cooperation in such strategically important areas as security, economics, energy, and environmental protection."
The head of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the summit's outcomes will contribute to the further expansion of multilateral cooperation between the countries of the region and the United States.
