The partnership between Samsung and Nvidia is deepening, now expanding to include SSD supplies for AI systems
Their cooperation is no longer limited to the supply of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). Samsung not only uses Nvidia accelerators in its own development but has also become a key supplier of high-speed SSD drives for Nvidia’s compact AI system, the DGX Spark.
The DGX Spark is a desktop supercomputer designed for artificial intelligence tasks and delivers performance of up to 1 petaflop.
Cho Sang Yeon, Vice President of Samsung Electronics America, confirmed Samsung’s involvement in producing these systems. According to him, the company supplies Nvidia with the following SSD model:
• SSD Model: PM9E1
• Key Feature: A specialized data storage solution developed specifically for the DGX Spark
• Specifications: 8th-generation V-NAND memory, a 5nm controller, up to 4 TB storage capacity, and data transfer speeds up to 14.5 GB/s The expansion of SSD-related cooperation aligns with Samsung’s latest achievements in the high-performance memory market. According to reports, Samsung has finally been approved to supply its advanced HBM3E memory for Nvidia accelerators.
Additionally, the two companies have begun joint development of next-generation HBM4 memory, highlighting the strategic importance of their partnership in the fast-growing AI computing market.
