Foreign Ministry of Bahrain noted the high potential for cooperation with Turkmenistan


The first political consultations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Turkmenistan were held in Manama. The meeting was co-chaired by deputy minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan Berdiniyaz Myatiev and Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for International Affairs of foreign ministry.
Welcoming the Turkmen delegation, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah noted the interest of his country in strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and consolidating mutual interests for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
The head of the Bahraini delegation stressed the importance of political consultations for the developing bilateral relations in various fields, which have been dynamically developing in recent years after the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to the Kingdom of Bahrain in February 2011.
Kingdom's support for the positive neutrality adopted by Turkmenistan as a modern state committed to neutrality based on the noble principles of maintaining peace, security and mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, confirmed Dr. Sheikh Abdullah, recalling that on the behalf His Majesty the King, Bahrain's foreign minister took part in the international conference held in Ashgabat in December 2015 entitled "Neutrality Policy: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development.
As noted, the Turkmen-Bahraini relations have promising opportunities for significant progress, especially given the mutual interest in enhancing the existing framework and the availability of qualitative investments in energy, gas, tourism, youth and sports, as well as the economy, technical and financial technology, logistics and entrepreneurship. The promising area of cooperation can be the humanitarian sector due to the cultural richness of both peoples.
In turn, the Turkmen delegation expressed interest in using the solid potential of cooperation with the friendly Kingdom of Bahrain, highly appreciating the leading role of the country in establishing peace in the region.
In Manama, representatives of Turkmenistan met with Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sameer Nass. The meeting discussed the current state of trade relations and prospects for further development of business cooperation.
According to the parties, the key areas on the agenda of bilateral business contacts may be oil and gas, petrochemicals, food and apparel industries.
The parties also discussed plans to exchange delegations and hold a business forum before the end of this year in order to stimulate ties between the business communities of the two countries.
