India expect the participation of Turkmenistan at major energy event


India, China and South Korea will co-host ministerial meeting of the International Energy Forum on 10-12 April 2018 in New Delhi.
Over 700 delegates, including 60 energy ministers, top energy producers and consumers, 15 heads of international organizations, such as International Energy Agency (IEA), Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), 30 chief executives of major companies, will be attracted will attend the event.
According to reports in Indian media with reference to Sunjay Sudhir, joint secretary of the Ministry of petroleum and natural gas of India, TAPI gas pipeline projects are likely to be discussed during the meeting, as Turkmenistan has been invited to join the meeting.
The agenda of the gathering envisages the open dialogue on such issues as global energy, security, investment, technology, human resources. These themes are important both for consumers and producers regardless the level of economic development.
The renewables will be spotlighted as well in the context of transition to solar or wind energy.
The International Energy Forum is the world's largest gathering of energy ministers since it covering all six continents and accounting for around 90% of global supply and demand for oil and gas. The 72 Member Countries of the Forum are signatories to the IEF Charter, which outlines the framework of the global energy dialogue through this inter-governmental arrangement. The secretariat of the organization is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The IEF’s biennial ministerial meetings gathering helps to improve policy and investment decisions, increase knowledge and experience sharing, reduce uncertainty on many levels. The upcoming IEF’s ministerial session is unique that it will be hosted by consumer country.
