Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has announced the launch of the “King Salman Gate” project, a large-scale, multifunctional complex in the holy city of Mecca.

The project, covering an area of up to 12 million square meters, is located adjacent to the Al-Haram Mosque. It will become one of the largest urban development projects in Mecca’s history, aimed at revitalizing the city’s central area and strengthening its position as a global center of modern urbanism.

The initiative seeks to improve access to the Al-Haram Mosque, enhance the quality of services, and create a comfortable environment for pilgrims as part of the Pilgrimage Experience Enhancement Program.

The project is being developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki, a company owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). The company implements a strategy of sustainable development and responsible resource management, focusing on preserving Mecca’s cultural identity and improving the city’s infrastructure.

The complex will feature residential, hotel, commercial, and cultural zones, as well as around 900,000 prayer spaces, both indoors and outdoors. The project will be integrated with the public transportation network to ensure better mobility and reduce infrastructure load.

The architectural concept of the complex combines Mecca’s traditional character with modern technologies. Plans include the restoration and enhancement of 19,000 square meters of cultural heritage sites to preserve the city’s historical and spiritual legacy.

The project is expected to create more than 300,000 jobs by 2036 and contribute to the implementation of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s national program for economic transformation.

RUA AlHaram AlMakki specializes in developing multifunctional complexes around the Al-Haram Mosque, adhering to international standards of quality and sustainability. Its activities focus on enhancing the urban environment and improving the quality of life for residents and pilgrims alike.
