From October 18 to 28, a delegation from the education system of Turkmenistan is on a working visit to the United States of America. A working visit of a representative delegation from Turkmenistan’s education sector has begun in the United States of America. The delegation includes faculty members and leaders of the country’s leading universities and colleges, representing the Ministry of Education, Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Institute of Finance, the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, the Dovletmammed Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, pedagogical and medical educational institutions, as well as specialized colleges. The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan reported this.

The delegation aims to sign memoranda of understanding, define mechanisms for academic exchanges of students and faculty, and discuss the implementation of joint projects in the fields of education, science, and technology.

The first stop of the visit was Northwest College in Wyoming, where members of the Turkmen delegation are familiarizing themselves with the college’s academic infrastructure and meeting with faculty and administration. The visit also includes upcoming trips to:

· Montana State University Billings (Billings),

· University of Montana (Missoula),

· Montana State University (Bozeman),

· University of Wyoming (Laramie),

as well as a number of meetings in Washington, D.C. focused on online education, technological diplomacy, and the development of modern educational programs.

The topics under discussion cover a wide range of areas — from English language and pedagogy to ecology and water security, from economics and healthcare to engineering, agrotechnology, information technology, and digital competencies.

As representatives of both sides emphasize, cooperation between the educational institutions of Turkmenistan and the United States is progressing steadily and delivering tangible results. A significant boost was given by the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in education in 2023, which opened new opportunities for collaboration between universities, colleges, and research centers in both countries.

Particular importance is placed on partnership with Kent State University and the participation of Turkmen students and faculty in international educational programs, including academic exchanges, internships, and professional development courses.
