Korean Partners Confirm Progress in Shipbuilding at the Balkan Caspian Shipyard

Turkmenistan is actively developing its shipbuilding potential in the Caspian Sea, leveraging global technologies, including advanced expertise of the Republic of Korea.

Recently, Kim Jun-chul, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Korea, visited the Balkan Shipyard to review the progress of a joint project, as reported on the website of the Korean Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The visit focused on discussing bilateral cooperation in the industry and inspecting the construction site where two multipurpose cargo vessels (MPCs) with a deadweight of 6,100 tons are being built. The project is being implemented jointly with the Korean company Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd (KSIT).

During a meeting with Balkan Shipyard Director General Guychmurat Amanov, opportunities for deepening partnerships in the shipbuilding and ship repair industries were discussed.

The shipyard visit underscored Turkmenistan's commitment to modernizing its maritime infrastructure and its desire to utilize advanced technologies to strengthen its status as a key transit hub on the Caspian Sea. Mr. Kim Jun-chul also met with KSIT employees, thanking them for their hard work at the Turkmen shipyard.
