Visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Dushanbe: Participation in the Central Asia-Russia Summit and Meeting with Rahmon
On October 9, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in the second Central Asia-Russia Summit in Dushanbe.
The Central Asia-Russia Dialogue is a strategic interregional partnership based on strong historical, cultural, and economic ties. This six-party format covers a wide range of areas: politics, economics, energy, transport, science, education, and the humanitarian sphere. Turkmenistan, pursuing a foreign policy of permanent positive neutrality, is a key factor in the sustainability of this interaction.
In Dushanbe, the head of Turkmenistan held a bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
During the talks, the heads of state confirmed the productive nature of their political and diplomatic interaction, emphasizing the common and similar positions of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan on key issues of global and regional politics. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Tajik side for its continued support of Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality and international initiatives, as well as for its active co-authorship of UN General Assembly resolutions.
Trade-economic cooperation was recognized as a priority area of dialogue. The parties noted the need to take measures to fully realize the potential of the two countries, including increasing mutual trade and diversifying economic ties. Significant importance was also attached to expanding close cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as cooperation in science and education.
In his speech at the Central Asia-Russia Summit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Central Asia and Russia not only form a vast geographical space but are also united by centuries-old historical, political, economic, and cultural ties. He stressed that this provides a solid basis for building cooperation potential across a wide range of areas.
